Canterbury - RCEP - Areas of Significant Natural Value - Areas that the Canterbury and Nelson-Marlborough Conservancies of the Department of Conservation have identified along the Canterbury Region’s coastline as having significant conservation value. These have been adopted as Areas of Significant Natural Value and are listed in Schedule 1 of the Canterbury Regional Coastal Envionment Plan (RCEP) 2005. These are areas, sites and habitats of high natural, physical, heritage or cultural value that the RCEP has identified that they need to protect, and where appropriate enhance.
